Music Genome

1. Upload your movie to your blog. [If you have trouble with this, check to see that you exported it in the correct format. You can also upload it to YouTube and embed it into your posting to save time.]

2. A) Identify your chosen musical genre & B) say why you chose it.
I chose the genre of rock because I basically only listen to rock.

3. Describe your process...how did you go about finding your songs and information?
I had almost all of the songs I needed in my iTunes and I found information and videos that would match the songs. I found the information from various sites and I found the videos from you tube.

4. What different kinds of technology did you use to compile your project? [Web tools, Mac tools, etc...]
I used the internet, Garage Band, iMovie, and iTunes to create my project.

5. What are you good at...what went well for you in this project?
I believe that I did a good job of blending the music together in Garage Band.

6. With what did you struggle on this project...what was difficult for you?
I had trouble finding high-quality videos that also matched up with the songs I had.

7. Did you decide to use still slides? Why or why not?  [If not, how did you convey your information?
I used still slides whenever I could not find a video for a song.

8. For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
I think that this type of project could be used to present something in other classes such as a time line for History.

9. What new techniques or technology tools did you use in this project that you've never used before?  Be specific.
I had never blended music together or used any part of iMovie before this project.

10. How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?[...not just that you cited the information, etc., but how did you transform the music, information, images, etc.?
Anything that I used in my project added value to my project, therefore it added value to the video, music, or information.

11. Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
If I was assigned a large project, I might use this to do that project. However, smaller projects would be easier to complete in PowerPoint.

PND Culture Movie Review

1. Upload your movie to your blog or embed it from YouTube.  Earlier you had the opportunity to grade your teammates on the storyboard portion of this project. Now you will be examining your own performance as a team member.

2. Remember to copy and paste the questions into your blog as you answer them. Answer the following questions about yourself:

A. To what degree did you work toward team goals? (Please explain your answer)  Superior, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Needs Improvement
I believe that all of my team members, including myself, would fall under superior because we were all very productive in making our movie. Each of us came up with ideas and helped to make those ideas reality.

B. What specific tasks and duties did you perform as a member of this team?
I came up with some of the ideas and themes of our movie, and I did many of the voice overs.

C. To what degree did you offer your gifts, talents, and time as a member of the team? (Please explain your answer) Superior, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Needs Improvement
Again I believe that our whole team would fall under superior because we all put plenty of time into the project, which is why we finished a little early even.

D. To what degree did you take action as a member of the team? (Please explain your answer) Leader, Very Active, Somewhat Active, Had to Be Told What to Do
I would say that Adam was our team leader, but JoCele and I were both very active. Adam did all of the effects for the movie, but we all provided opinions on what effects to use.

E. What makes you most proud about your movie and why?
I believe that our movie had a good flow and was consistent. It would get the point across to an incoming freshman, which was the main goal.

F. If you were going to make any changes to your movie, what would they be?
I would make the movie a little longer so we could take more time explaining some of the slides or take more time with the interviews, etc.

Movie Review Podcast

1. Upload your slideshow as a movie to your blog posting. [If you have trouble with this, check to see that you exported it in the correct format. If it is still too big, re-export in a smaller format. You may also choose to upload it to YouTube and embed it on your blog.]

2. What tools and techniques did you use to create your podcast?
I uploaded pictures and sound effects into the podcast. I had to place them in different tracks and in the right spots for the podcast to sound right.

3.  How could you use a project like this in other classes?
I could use a project like this for a report or essay in my other classes.

4.  In the “real world,” how could podcast projects be used (In what careers/businesses, etc.)?
A podcast such as the one I made could be used in presenting information to a group of people to give a lecture. It could also be used to make a commercial.

5.  In this project, what did you get good at doing?
I got good at making my the different tracks flow together well so that it would be hard to tell where one track ended and another began.

6. What was the most difficult part of the assignment?
The most difficult part of the project was getting the sound quality I wanted.

7. How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?  [...not just that you cited the information - citing is not enough...tell me how you transformed what you've taken into something new, etc., How did you transform the music, information, images, etc.?
I used all of the information (music, sound effects, and pictures) to enhance the quality of my podcast. I transformed them to make my podcast better so it wouldn't just be my voice, which would be bad.

8.  Would you do a project like this on your own?
I probably would not do a project like this on my own unless it was a project for school.

9. If you were going to make any changes/improvements on your podcast what would it/they be?  ...and why?
I would redo a few of the recordings so that the transitions between tracks would be perfect because I believe that sound quality is the most important thing in a podcast.

iPhoto Name Project

1. Upload your slideshow as a movie to your blog posting. [If you have trouble with this, check to see that you exported it in the correct format.]

2. List the search terms (words) that you used to find images (for the letters of your name and the images that describe you) and why?
I took all of the pictures for the letters of my name, but I found about five pictures to describe myself on the internet. The terms I used to find these photos were: Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, ND football, White Sox, and Kane and Toews.

3. What skills did you use/learn in this project?
I used iPhoto for the first time in this project. I cited some of my pictures in MLA Format and got the music for my video from my iTunes.

4. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation.
I could use these skills to promote my cause to something or use it as a way to get people interested in whatever it is that I am persuading them to do. Using iPhoto is a little more exciting than using PowerPoint.

5. This was a more creative project than our first 2. Did you prefer it or the more cut and dry assignments in Word and Excel?
This project was a little more challenging that the other two and required more work. However the end result was more rewarding, so the projects evened out because of that. I don't really have a preference between the two.

6. How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976? [...not just that you cited the information - citing is not enough...tell me how you transformed what you've taken into something new, etc., How did you transform the music, information, images, etc.?
I transformed the images I used by using them to describe me and what I enjoy, so I added value to them. I basically did the same thing for the music too. Mama kin by Aerosmith is a song that I enjoy listening to, so it also helped to describe me, therefore adding value to it.

Charity Letter & Mail Merge - Reflection

1. Take a screenshot of your charity letter and add it as a picture to your blog posting.

2. List the name of your business and its charity.
My business was ACPM Podiatry and its charity was the Red Cross.

3. How did you get the audience’s attention in the first paragraph?
I informed the audience of the recent distruction and natural disasters in Japan.

4. What skills did you use/learn in this project?
I learned how to use Mail merging in this project using a contact list.

5. What was the easiest part of this project? What was the most difficult part of this project?
The easiest part of the project was creating a fundraiser in the letter. The most difficult part of the project was using Mail merge.

6. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation other than writing a charity letter.
Mail merge could be used to make and send multiple letters to a group of people such as students, people who want to try out for a sport, etc. Making contact lists through excel could also be used in this process to organize who the letters are supposed to be sent to.

7. Did you learn something new during this project that you did not know before?  If so, what?
I learned multiple things in this project that I didn't already know. These things include: using templates on excel such as the address one we used to make our contact list, and I didn't know how to Mail merge something before this project.

M&M Reflection

1. Take a screen shot of your spreadsheet and add it as a picture to your blog posting.

2. What is a template? [If you use an definition from an online source, be sure to tell me from what website it came.]
A template is a preset format for a document so that a format does not have to be recreated.
Definition from dictionary from spotlight.

3. What tools/functions in Excel did you use to create your project?
I used the auto sum and auto average button along with two different pie graphs to create my project.

4.  What other skills did you use/learn in this project?
I used Excel to keep everything in columns and rows and to organize my information. I also centered all of my information.

5.  What “extras” (colors, decorations, etc.) did you add to your project?
I added some colors to my pie graph and accidentally split the first one apart, but I thought it looked cool, so I kept it and made a new graph also.

6.  What are some other uses you may have for a simple excel spreadsheet?
I could also have used various templates and graphs in my simple Excel spreadsheet.

About Me

In this class there are several things I would like to learn. The main things I would like to learn are how to use garage band and how to use/make an iMovie, iPhoto, etc. To receive and or communicate about my grades I would prefer email and talking in person. The above picture is the symbol of the Chicago Blackhawks, my favorite hockey team. Since it is  winter right now, and hockey season, I posted this. If it was summer, and baseball season, I would have posted the symbol of the Chicago White Sox, my favorite baseball team. I love sports so I believe this symbol represents me.
